On this week's show, the annual summer production of UK Opera Theatre featuring over a dozen showtunes, "A Grand Night for Singing."  So many tunes that we're going to have to do it as a two-part production.

It’s time for our weekly preview of weekend events with Rich Copley of the Lexington Herald Leader.  Rich tells us that, among other events this weekend, a well-known comic and star of NBC’s Parks & Recreation, Aziz Ansari will be at UK tomorrow night.

Some of the best young vocalists in the country have called Lexington home, albeit temporarily. The University of Kentucky Opera Theatre Program has earned respect across the country.

While the University of Kentucky is probably best known nationally for its basketball program, an argument can be made that its opera program isn't that far behind Wildcat basketball in terms of national recognition and recruitment of students. 

Since its debut 24 years ago, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” has been Broadway’s longest-running and highest-grossing production ever.  Since 1988, over 12 and a half million people have seen the productions in New York City.  And that number does not include audiences who’ve seen the eight productions on tour around the world.
