The Eastern Kentucky University Colonels got a last second win Tuesday. The winning basket came from an EKU junior playing in his hometown. Back in Baltimore, Colonel guard Denzel Richardson hit a three pointer with less than a second to lift EKU to a 66-63 win over Coppin State. Eastern’s Corey Walden tied his career best with a game high 33 points. As the clock wound down, Walden was under the basket, but couldn’t get a shot off. So, he found Richardson in the corner for the game winner. EKU moves to seven and five on the year. The Colonels return home this Saturday for the final
Coming off one of their biggest wins in team history, Eastern Kentucky University takes to the court Monday night, again in Florida.
The EKU men's team handed 18th ranked University of Miami a 28 point loss Friday night. It was their first win over a top 25 team in more than a half century. In 1959, the Colonels defeated number seven North Carolina State by two points. Tonight Eastern will go up against Florida Atlantic in Boca Rotan. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
Eastern Kentucky University’s first contest in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament will likely have both teams recalling their previous match just over a month ago.
The E-K-U men's team takes on Southeast Missouri State Thursday evening in Nashville. Last month, the Colonels’ Glenn Cosey hit a 40-foot bank shot with time running out to secure a one point Eastern win.
