Maria Hinojosa is an award-winning news anchor and reporter who covers America’s untold stories and highlights today’s critical issues.  For 25 years, Maria Hinojosa has helped to tell America's untold stories and brought to light unsung heroes in America and abroad. 

Hinojosa will deliver the Hispanic Heritage Keynote Address as part of the EKU Chautauqua Lecture Series Thursday evening September 22 and is our guest for Eastern Standard that morning at 11:00.

Our Future in Space on Eastern Standard

A guest on campus at Eastern Kentucky University will talk on the topic: “What If We Live Off Earth: Exploring our Future in Space.”    

On this week’s Eastern Standard, we’ll meet astronomer, educator and author Chris Impey. Professor Impey will be delivering a talk as part of the EKU Chautauqua Lecture Series.

On this week’s EST, more of the wisdom from speakers in the 2015-16 Chautauquah Lecture series at Eastern Kentucky University. 

Speakers came to the Richmond campus addressing the general theme “What If” and we’ll hear from some of the best. 

During today’s show, we’re discussing hate in America; a proposed new national discourse on Latinos; race, sex and aggression; and the future of liberal education.

This week’s speaker in the Chautauqua Lecture series at Eastern Kentucky University says he’s concerned about the state of liberal education in the U.S.

Dr. Michael Roth is President of Wesleyan University in Connecticut and author of “Why Liberal Education Matters.”

This year marks the 16th year of EKU’s Chautauqua lecture series, and this years theme is “What If? The series encourages speakers to engage our curiosity and explore possibilities, alternatives, and ideas, while thinking creatively about the future, in light of the past.

On this week’s Eastern Standard we sat down with Erik Liddell, the Coordinator of this lecture series, and talked with him about this series so far. We’ll also have exclusive interviews with speakers from this year’s Chautauqua series, with our host John Hingsbergen.
