Wisconsin Docs Face Sanctions For Sick Notes To Anti-Gov.Walker Protesters
Here's an interesting piece of fallout from the Wisconsin fight between Gov. Scott Walker and the public-employee unions.
The University of Wisconsin medical school is investigating for sanctions some of its doctors who gave government workers sick notes so they could attend protests at the state capitol.
According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:
The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health said Tuesday that it will take disciplinary action against its physicians who wrote doctor excuse notes for protesters at the state Capitol during rallies in February.
The doctors face discipline ranging from a written reprimand to loss of pay and leadership position, the medical school said in a statement.
The medical school, however, would not say how many doctors were facing discipline.
The obvious irony is that in trying to keep some of the protesting government workers out of trouble, or at the very least, make it so those protesters would get paid, the physicians wound up getting themselves into hot water.
