We have a few backlogged comments that have never been on the air due to reaction to coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Robin wrote, “I know I may be considered "un-American" to say this, but I really don't like "A Prairie Home Companion"...at all. And I would never even suggest you not air it, because I know a lot of people love it; but I've noticed that both you, and WUKY air the program at the exact same times on both Saturday and Sunday. Is there some way to stagger the times so those of us who don't care for the show could have something to listen to?”
Our reply to Robin was an explanation that all stations that carry this show are contractually required to carry the Saturday “live” broadcast. As for Sunday, we suggest she contact our friends at the other station and suggest they change their schedule.
Listener George e-mailed us, saying he enjoys the classical music on 102.1, adding, “I also understand your request for financial support, but have trouble getting a decent signal in south Lexington so it’s hard to justify support for poor reception. Are there any plans to increase the signal strength from Lawrenceburg?”
Our reply is that we are continuing to pursue options for a better signal for that programming but, regrettably, at the moment have no specific plans.
Meanwhile, Paul from Lawrenceburg let us know his musical tastes, “I wish you’d play more of the Russian composers, like Stravinsky and Rachmaninoff. I don’t really like the Baroque music. My father doesn’t like it.”
