Unemployment Drops in Most Counties
The latest unemployment numbers for Kentucky have been released and most counties, Jefferson included, show an improvement. In Louisville, the unemployment rate is down to nine percent. It’s the lowest rate in three years. The numbers are from last month, which, aside from a spike in September, capped a year of steady declines. The unemployment rate in Louisville at the start of 2011 was around 11 percent.
Statewide, the unemployment rate is 9.1 percent. All but six counties showed a drop in joblessness.
The national unemployment rate is 8.5 percent.
