Lexington Police have arrested two teenagers in connection with shots being fired and a stabbing near Tates Creek High School Wednesday. Lt. James Curless says a fight at Gainesway Park escalated around 8 am.
"There was a total of six people involved in this altercation and disorder. Certain people did certain things and suffered the criminal charges for their actions. Some were students, some were not."
Haven Murray, 18, is charged with 1st degree assault and William Nelson Burkhart, 18, has been charged with 2nd degree assault and two counts of wanton endangerment for firing a handgun in the air. Investigators say one of the young men is a student at Tates Creek High School, and Burkhart is the son of a Lexington police officer.
All three schools at the Tates Creek complex were briefly placed on lockdown following the altercation, but school district authorities say there were no major disruptions throughout the day.
