Two young boys have been honored for their heroics in pulling a two year old family member out of a Lexington swimming pool earlier this year.

Meritorious Civilian Citations were given to eight -year -old Chase Covey and his nine -year -old cousin Parker Everhard.

When the two boys heard a splash in a nearby pool in May, they went to find two -year -old Jacks Covey had fallen in.  His brother Chase jumped in to get him.

“I just knew that I didn’t want to leave him in there for other people to get him because he could have passed when they got there,”  said Chase.

Parker ran to get help from adults and call 9-1-1.  Jacks’ mother Michelle Covey thanked members of the public safety team in assisting her family. She says her son was rushed to the hospital and recovered with no injuries.
