Texas Gov. Rick Perry Says He Will Consider White House Bid

The Republican field for the 2012 presidential race may soon include the governor of Texas.

"I'm going to think about it," Gov. Rick Perry said today, according to the Austin American-Statesman's Postcards blog.

It adds that Perry and his advisers "have inched closer to saying he may run all week, following the announcement that Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels would not enter the GOP field. Today was the most distance he's put between himself and his past declarations that he wouldn't run."

Our colleague Frank James follows the campaign news over at It's All Politics. As he notes, we're in for some busy days with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney about to officially launch his bid for the GOP nomination and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) embarking on a bus tour and making other moves that signal she also may soon get into the race.
