Talks Hope to Resolve Murray State Dorm Fire Case
Talks between defense attorneys and the prosecution could keep Jerry Wayne Walker Jr. from facing trial on evidence tampering charges. Walker was originally accused of setting a fatal dorm fire at Murray State University in 1998. Three years later, a trial ended in a mistrial. But a Marshall County jury acquitted Walker in July in a retrial in the case. That's when prosecutors charged Walker with evidence tampering. Last month, a judge refused to dismiss those charges.
