Recovery Begins in South Central Kentucky

According to the Adair County Community Voice, Adair County escaped the worst of the storms that passed through Kentucky Friday. But a storm did close the Columbia Walmart. The thunderstorm dumped a large amount of hail in Adair County. The Louie B. Nunn Parkway was covered with hail Friday night. Photos showed the hail to be so thick it appeared almost as snow covering the ground and roadway.

High winds damaged some homes - homes in the Creekbend and Peachtree Lane areas were among the most damaged, the Community Voice reported.

At the Columbia Walmart, customers were taken to the back of the store while waiting for the storm to pass. The store's skylights were broken with rain and hail pouring into the building. A call was made to local police that the store had been hit but the damage was confined to the wind a hail, the Community Voice reported on its website Saturday morning.
