Eastern Kentucky University President Michael Benson will join host John Hingsbergen and Dr. Aaron Thompson, EKU professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs with the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education during WEKU's Eastern Standard, Thursday morning at 11:00 on the WEKU Stations. The interactive program is WEKU's weekly public affairs show, returning to the air after a two-year hiatus.
Earlier this year, nearly 200 employees and faculty of Eastern Kentucky University took advantage of a voluntary retirement buyout. It was put in place by the University’s Board of Regents to help the institution reallocate funds to put it into a better and more strategic financial position for the months and years ahead.
This voluntary staff reduction and the enactment of a new fiscal year budget of $332 million dollars took place as the University’s 12th President prepared to take office. Dr. Michael Benson took office earlier this month and just last week delivered his first convocation address.
On this week’s Eastern Standard, we’ll discuss the challenges facing the President Benson. Also joining the discussion will be Dr. Aaron Thompson, EKU professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs with the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.
Listeners are invited to join in with your questions on the phone at 800-621-8890, by e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org. You can join the conversation on the WEKU Facebook page or send us a tweet to: @wekuEST.
This program, and each week's Eastern Standard, will repeat Sunday evening at 6:00 pm.
