Without a recommendation on targeted cuts from the congressional deficit-cutting supercommittee this week, the National Park System stands to show some of the most outward signs of what the alternative across-the-board cuts would mean. The National Parks Conservation Association is warning that cuts would mean alterations to services that are already being taxed because of the steady influx of visitors to national parks. Kentucky’s national parks include Mammoth Cave National Park, Cumberland Gap, Big South Fork and Abraham Lincoln Birthplace.
