No Rush for Licenses in Harlan

i

Only one establishment has applied for a license to sell alcoholic beverages by the drink, since the city of Harlan passed the ordinance in late February and started accepting applications. The sole applicant so far is the Harlan Center, a facility owned by the city itself.

“It’s a disappointment, but I think it also shows prudence on the part of the people that own establishments in making sure that everything is researched and done properly,” said Harlan Mayor Danny Howard. “We saw the need and tried to go along to meet it, fully aware that the market would decide the outcome.”
