Murder-Suicide Leaves Four Dead In Southeast Kentucky

Aug 2, 2013

UPDATE: Authorities in eastern Kentucky have found four bodies in two homes along the Kentucky-Virginia border. The Letcher County coroner says 58-year-old Timothy Shelby used a Glock pistol to kill 35-year-old Jennifer Walters, 25-year-old Joshua Wyatt and 31-year-old Amy Ratliff before turning the gun on himself.

An eastern Kentucky coroner says four people are dead in an apparent triple murder-suicide near the Kentucky-Virginia border. Letcher County Coroner Marty Brown told The Associated Press that two men and two women were killed either late Thursday night or early Friday morning and all died of gunshot wounds. Baker says none of the four were married or related to each other, but were acquaintances.

Baker was notifying family members Friday morning and said identifications were not immediately available. The bodies were being sent for autopsies. A Kentucky State Police detective did not immediately return a message seeking comment. Baker says the shooting is under investigation.
