An Allen County mother of six was in court Wednesday fighting charges involving her home school. Allen County Attorney Bill Hagenbuch filed charges against Amy Jessup, claiming the woman intentionally breached state attendance regulations and laws requiring that a parent or custodian send his or her child to school, according to court records. Jessup, whose family was profiled in the Aug. 26 edition of the Daily News, home schools her children using a method called “unschooling,” which teaches children lessons through natural experiences, in addition to academic curriculum.
