The Lexington Urban County Council is giving Spectrum cable a month to make improvements in various services or face the possibility of fines.
After a closed session Tuesday council approved a motion to give legal notice to provider of cable TV and broadband services.
Vice Mayor Steve Kay says that starts the clock ticking for a response from the cable company over the next 30 days.
“It lists out the kind of complaints and the number of complaints and our belief that that they are subject to fines for not fulfilling their obligation under their agreement with the city,” said Kay.
A public meeting in August allowed dozens of citizens to express complaints to Spectrum representatives about rate changes, technician tardiness, varying Internet speeds, and difficulties in dropping options.
