Kentucky Police Agencies Tackling Their Largest Drug Bust Ever
Kentucky State Police are using every available sworn unit today for what it calls the largest one day drug round up in agency history. The aim is to arrest 479 individuals. Troopers from all KSP posts along with numerous other law enforcement officers began arresting individuals before daybreak.
State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer says the large scale operation is a result of law abiding citizens providing tips through phone calls, messages, letters and information to the anonymous tip lines. The commissioner says many of the arrests are termed low level offenders. State Police say these are often the people who buy drugs and generally cause disruption within their communities.
