Starting tonight, construction of a new kind of interchange could slow evening traffic flow in Lexington. Work began last week on what’s called a “double cross over diamond interchange” along Harrodsburg Road.
State Transportation Department spokeswoman, Natasha Lacy says lane closures will occur during evening and overnight hours…
“Work has started, moving utility work and then also Monday night June sixth we will have work from seven p.m. to six a.m. They’ll be lane closures in both directions at this time but one lane will be open at all times,” said Lacy.
The new interchange should ease congestion at the intersection of Harrodsburg and New Circle Roads. Lacy says initially, expect lane shut downs only in the evening.
“Now as we progress through the project there may be times when daytime work is necessary. But at the present time, we’re scheduling night and weekend work,” added Lacy.
The ‘double cross over diamond’ interchange project should be complete by mid November.
