Extreme Makeover: Home Edition wants to change a family's life in Lexington. The ABC television show known for tearing down and completely rebuilding homes in a matter of days is seeking nominations in the central Kentucky area.
"If you watch our show, you see thousands of volunteers come out in those blue shirts to help us build the house," says show producer Kelly Mooney. "And those aren't hired hands. Those are people from the community, those are people that have heard the story of the family and want to come out and want to help. And so when we're looking for families and looking for places to go, we really start with looking at the community."
Mooney says Extreme Makeover Home Edition looks for families that are in need of a new living space and who have possibly had some personal hardship or setback.
"Find a family that really needs our help. And we want them to send us an email, and tell us about the family, tell us about the house, and why Extreme Makeover can come and make a difference in this family's life."
Depending on the nominations received, Mooney says producers would like to start building in Lexington sometime this summer. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has helped Kentucky families in Louisville, Daviess County, and Harrison County.
