Flu forced the Lawrence County School District to announce on Wednesday that it will be closed until Tuesday. According to a report in The Levisa Lazer, school officials said once attendance dropped below 80 percent, local doctors suggested closing the schools to reduce the spread of the illness.
And the Lazer also reports schools in nearby Martin County are also closed until Tuesday for the same reason.
Meanwhile, the Beechtree News in Butler County reports schools there will be closed for the rest of the week for the flu.
And WYMT-TV in Hazard reports Johnson, Magoffin and Perry County schools are closed for the rest of the week for the flu.
