Feedback: Garbled Emergency Alerts & Need for Postal Address
We had a number of calls to the Listener Comment Line last week…including this one on Wednesday evening:
Anonymous female caller: “You need to improve your emergency broadcast notifications. They do not come clearly (when) listening on the radio. Very garbled. Very difficult to understand.”
Thanks for that message and for your concern. We’ll check it out and see if there is anything we can do with that system. As you may know, it automatically relays messages from the National Weather Service and other authorities and sometimes the sound quality problem is not ours…but at the source of the message. But, definitely something that deserves attention, due to the nature and potential urgency of such messages.
On Thursday afternoon, we received this message.
Anonymous male caller: “I would prefer if you would give me a mailing address, postal address, over your radio program. I don’t do email or websites, anything like that.”
For this gentleman and others who may want it, our mailing address is Perkins 102, Eastern Kentucky University, 521 Lancaster Ave. Richmond, KY 40475.
We’ll try to mention it more often since the caller is right in observing that it is rare that we actually give that address.
No matter how you contact us, we are interested in hearing from you. Send an email to: WEKU (at) EKU (dot) EDU, post on Facebook or send a tweet @889weku. Or leave a message on the Listener Comment Line at 859-622-1657. And that postal mailing address again: Perkins 102, Eastern Kentucky University, 521 Lancaster Ave. Richmond, KY 40475.
Be sure to tune in next Monday at 6:33 or 8:49 am or 5:33 pm for Listener Feedback on WEKU.
