Feedback: 'Annoying' Message on Web Stream and Why the Weak Signal?

Jan 26, 2015

We had a couple of interesting calls this past week to the WEKU Listener Comment Line. “Hello, this is A.J. and of course you can use my comments on the air. WEKU’s programming is superb.  There is one minor irritation I wonder if you could take care of."

Send your feedback by email to: WEKU@eku.edu, post on Facebook, send a tweet @889weku or call 859-622-1657

A.J. continues, "When I listen to the stream on (the) TuneIn app, the commercial (sic) that comes before-hand that says, ‘Thank you for tuning in to WEKU and please give,’ is really irritating and it doesn’t make me want to give it just makes me want to get on with the program.”

Actually, A.J. we thought we had that announcement turned off.  We agree that it’s annoying and has out-lived it’s usefulness, at least in its current form.  I’ll make some calls and see how soon we can make that go away.  I’m sure it’s no consolation but apparently the TuneIn app is the only place where that message still survives.  We think it has something to do with their system.

Here’s a call from a Lexington listener, choosing to remain anonymous, “I’d like to know why the reception in Chevy Chase varies so much from day to day. There’s a blue sky outside today and the reception is terrible. On a cloudy day it might be different.”

We actually have had a somewhat reduced power on the 88.9 signal for the past couple of weeks. Today is the day when our engineers will be working on a repair so we hope that issue will be resolved, in not today, very soon.  Stay tuned.

We’re always grateful for your feedback.
