An environmental group is investigating a potential chemical spill in a waterway near Jenkins, Kentucky. On Tuesday evening, Clary Estes with Headwaters Incorporated says she saw four to five feet of foam in a southeast Kentucky stream.
“Foam to that level in any water source is never good. One of the concerns is obviously the fish kill aspect, but also the fact that it’s going through residential areas,” said Estes.
Estes also says a fish kill has been reported on the stream, which runs through a residential area.
"It’s easier for kids or family animals to get into. Also with this type of event, we don’t know what the long term affects on the immediate region are gonna’ be,” said Estes
Estes says the state division of water has been contacted about the incident. She says the division has sent an emergency response crew to the site.
