Music fans don't have much longer to wait for a special benefit performance by the Boston Pops and the UK Symphony Orchestra. The Post Time with the Pops concert, celebrating the 75th anniversary of Keeneland takes place Saturday night at Rupp Arena. Kentucky Public Radio's Alan Lytle spoke with Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart about the trip to Lexington.
"You are going to hear the University of Kentucky Orchestra, under the direction of John Nardolillo, then you'll hear the Boston Pops playing a tribute to the horse. We've been asked to play tributes to a lot of different things before but this is the first time that we've been asked to put together an equine program. It's going to be just a wonderful chance to hear the Boston Pops play not only music of the horse but some of the great things we're known for including the 1812 Overture."
Proceeds for the concert will help underwrite the UK Symphony's "Music in the Schools" outreach program. Tickets for the Saturday night performance are available through Ticketmaster.
