Alright y'all, we're back for the second installment of the Berea Permaculture Action Series! Join us the day after the Roots of a Rebellion and Jeff Richey Experience concert in Old Town Berea for a day full of permaculture and nature-based workshops, skillshares and hands-on activities taking place at Glades Community Garden (530 Glades Rd, Berea, KY), FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Glades Community Garden is a project started by a group of families in a low-income housing community in Berea who were looking to be more self-sustaining and to create economic opportunity. The garden has expanded in the year since its inception to include CSA, sales to the Grow Appalachia Summer Feeding Project, and educational opportunities for kids. We are so excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the long-term goals and visions of this amazing community garden! This will be day two of a three day series, each day focusing on different projects at the garden site, intended to be both experiential and educational! Activities will include but are not limited to: -COMPOST BIN EXPANSION -INSTALLING RAISED BEDS -BUG HOTEL/BAT HOUSE -PAINTING & INSTALLING BEEHIVES -BUILDING VERTICAL GARDEN BEDS -FOOD FOREST PREP CONTINUED We'll get as much done as we can - we need you to make it all happen! -SKILLSHARES, WORKSHOPS AND LIVE MUSIC ONGOING THROUGHOUT THE DAY -Fermentation Basics with Rhett Kenny -Natural Pest Control with Kayla Preston -Compost Basics with Joana Amorim -Cover Cropping with Timothy Kercherville WE WILL ALSO HAVE SPECIAL KID'S ACTIVITIES! It's the last day of the Summer Food Project's run for the season, and we're celebrating! Look forward to : A PETTING ZOO TINKERGARTEN PERFORMANCE KIDS ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW AND MUCH MORE! This is a community event and food will be provided by the people for the people in the form of a rolling potluck. Please bring your own dish and eating utensils so we can a) avoid having tons of dishes to do afterwards and b) avoid contributing unnecessarily to the waste stream!
